Anti-Ragging Information

Ragging is prohibited. What it means, how to report it, and what follows a complaint.

Last updated: August 2026. This page forms part of the terms under which BGLRGM Institute of Vocational Education & Training provides its programmes and services.

Ragging is strictly prohibited in every centre, hostel, transport service and workplace training location associated with BGLRGM, and in any online space connected with them.

1. What counts as ragging

2. How to report

3. Handling of a complaint

A complaint is placed before the anti-ragging committee without delay. The complainant's identity is protected so far as a fair enquiry allows, and no learner is disadvantaged for making a complaint in good faith. Interim protection, including separation of the parties, may be arranged while the enquiry proceeds.

4. Consequences

Established ragging leads to disciplinary action which may include suspension, withdrawal of scholarship or hostel facility, cancellation of admission and referral to the police where the conduct amounts to an offence. Learners and parents sign an anti-ragging undertaking at the time of admission.

5. Prevention

Centre heads conduct induction sessions on ragging awareness, maintain visible display of contact numbers, and supervise common areas, hostels and transport at vulnerable times.
